Hoyer Statement on Leading Conservative Group Report Calling for Ending U.S. Aid to Israel

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today regarding reports of a draft proposal by the Heritage Foundation that calls for the United States to end aid to Israel:

"The Heritage Foundation's report calling for the United States to wind down military aid to Israel is both wrong and dangerous. 

“Everyone – no matter their party – who claims to be a friend of Israel and the Jewish community needs to reject this report in the strongest possible terms.

"Israel and America's security interests have always been intertwined. Cutting off military assistance would endanger Israel, America, and the entire region. The mere suggestion gives comfort to Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and other Iranian proxies who all seek Israel's destruction. Heritage's report is particularly damaging at a time when Israel is fighting to defend its people in the wake of Hamas' brutal October 7 terrorist attack.

"Ensuring Israel's security, and our own, is not a political issue. We must not let Heritage and the far right turn it into one."
