Hoyer Statement Calling for the Immediate Delivery of Military Assistance to Ukraine

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement to continue urging the Pentagon to ensure immediate delivery of the $400 million in defense material that was authorized in the FY2026 National Defense Authorization Act for the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative:

“I learned yesterday from Ukrainian officials that the $400 million in military assistance Congress appropriated more than eight months ago has still not been delivered.

“Ukraine is in a fight for freedom and its future. Its heroic soldiers have been struggling for four-and-a-half years to repel Russia’s criminal invasion, facing innumerable hardships on the battlefield. Civilians in Kyiv, Odesa, and other cities have had to live under the constant threat of aerial attacks and power outages in the depths of winter. The impact of this assistance is not theoretical. It is practical and essential.

“I am urging the Pentagon to do everything it can to complete the paperwork for the delivery of this $400 million in military equipment right away. It will save soldiers’ lives, it will protect civilians, and it will help bring about the victory that must be this war’s end."
