Hoyer Sends Letter Calling on Ethics Committee to Release its Findings on Rep. George Santos
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) sent a letter to the House Committee on Ethics Chairman Michael Guest (MS-03) and Ranking Member Susan Wild (PA-07) calling on the committee to release its findings regarding Rep. George Santos (NY-03).
“More than enough time has passed for the Ethics Committee to conduct a fair and accurate assessment of the veracity of the allegations against Rep. Santos and of the scope of his misconduct,” said Congressman Hoyer. “Regardless of your committee’s ultimate determination, I urge you to release your committee’s findings expeditiously.”
“Based on publicly available information, I – like many of my fellow Members and Americans – believe he is undeserving of the public trust,” Congressman Hoyer continued. “That’s why I believe that the House ought to act swiftly and transparently on this issue.”

Dear Chairman Guest and Ranking Member Wild:
After the referral of H.Res.114, regarding Rep. George Santos, to the House Ethics Committee in June, Republican House Leadership and other Members of the Republican Conference said that they wanted your committee to “move rapidly” on the matter. Over two months have passed already, and we still haven’t received any updates on your progress.
More than enough time has passed for the Ethics Committee to conduct a fair and accurate assessment of the veracity of the allegations against Rep. Santos and of the scope of his misconduct. Regardless of your committee’s ultimate determination, I urge you to release your committee’s findings expeditiously.
From lying about his family history to deceiving voters about his professional credentials, Rep. Santos has proven to be a pathological liar time and time again. Soon, the judicial process may find him guilty of criminal behavior as well. Based on publicly available information, I – like many of my fellow Members and Americans – believe he is undeserving of the public trust. That’s why I believe that the House ought to act swiftly and transparently on this issue.
Thank you for considering my perspective on this subject, and I hope you will do what is right for the institution and the country that we all serve.
Sincerely yours,
