Social Security Field Office Will Provide More Accessible Service to Residents of Southern Maryland

June 17, 2011

CHARLOTTE HALL, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today on the opening of the new Social Security Administration (SSA) field office in Charlotte Hall, Maryland – a location that will better serve the demand and growing population of seniors in Southern Maryland, as well as those collecting disability benefits.

"Today is a good day for Southern Maryland," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The opening of a new Social Security field office in Charlotte Hall will help the growing population of seniors in Southern Maryland, and across Maryland's Fifth District, have easier access to the benefits they've earned. I worked hard to bring this service center to Charlotte Hall, so that residents of Southern Maryland will have a helpful, convenient place to go to quickly address any issues with their Social Security or disability benefits. I've been proud to stand up for Social Security throughout my career in Congress, because it has meant dignity and peace of mind for generations of seniors. The opening of today's new field office is just another way we can keep these vital programs strong."

Congressman Hoyer has long fought and supported efforts to provide better accessibility to Social Security and disability benefit services for residents of Southern Maryland.  Until the opening of this new office, SSA had offered services in the tri-county area only on an intermittent schedule.  The new office, located at 30071 Business Center Drive in Charlotte Hall, MD, offers more accessible service to Southern Maryland and is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
