NEWSLETTER: Upholding our Commitment to Fifth District Servicemembers with the FY2022 NDAA

A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN HOYER

Yesterday, the House passed the Fiscal Year 2022 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), to ensure the security of our nation and support our men and women in uniform. I was pleased to bring this legislation to the Floor and see it pass overwhelmingly – just as it has done for 60 consecutive years. I worked alongside my colleagues to secure important benefits for Fifth District service members, including a 2.7 percent pay increase, expanded parental leave, and improved mental health care services, all of which are essential resources that our men and women in uniform rely on.

In addition, the Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA takes bold action to combat the rise of sexual assault in our military; makes necessary improvements to climate resilient infrastructure while acting on the climate crisis; and strengthens our nation’s security so we can face any challenges or threats. I am glad that this legislation meets the needs of Maryland troops, their families, and our military installations like Pax River and Indian Head while upholding our commitment to their well-being and their safety.

As always, I encourage all Fifth District residents to continue to share their concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram. If you are experiencing a personal difficulty such as issues accessing veterans benefits or another problem regarding a federal agency and you wish for my office to place an inquiry on your behalf, please complete the casework request form by clicking here.

Sincerely Yours,
