NEWSLETTER: Remembering My Dear Friend John Lewis

There is a hole in the heart of America. This week we said goodbye to my dear friend John Lewis, an extraordinary leader who saw injustice and risked his life to fight it. John inspired countless Americans with his message of nonviolence and his lifetime of service, and his loss will be felt deeply throughout our nation, and indeed throughout the world.

I shared what my friend John meant to me on the House Floor last week. Click here to watch my remarks.

John served as a bridge to the Civil Rights Movement for millions of Americans who were not alive during that time. I know that his life and legacy will continue to serve as a guide for future generations to build the "the Beloved Community, a nation and world society at peace with itself.” But most of all, I will miss my dear friend and colleague. We must continue his fight and march on until victory is won.

As always, I encourage all Fifth District residents to continue to share their concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on FacebookTwitter, or Instagram. If you need assistance with a federal agency, please click here.

Sincerely Yours,
