A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN HOYER
This week I hosted two very important roundtable discussions on priorities in the bipartisan infrastructure law for families and businesses in Maryland’s Fifth Congressional District. On Wednesday, I was joined by stakeholders in Maryland’s broadband community to discuss the significant broadband investments for Marylanders in the bipartisan infrastructure law. Maryland will receive a minimum of $100 million to help expand broadband coverage thanks to this law. It will also target nearly 150,000 Marylanders who don’t yet have internet access and help ensure they can get online. I join in applauding how the bipartisan infrastructure law will accelerate work being done on the ground in the Fifth District to bridge the digital divide.
On Friday I hosted experts and local officials to discuss how the law will strengthen water infrastructure in our district. Ensuring that our households have quality clean water is important for the health of our communities and our local environment. The bipartisan infrastructure law will allocate $844 million over five years to improve water infrastructure to our state, representing a historic investment for our people. Moreover, Marylanders won’t have to wait too long to see a local impact – the Biden Administration just announced $144 million to our state this year to start improving our water infrastructure.
Throughout this year, I will continue to provide information on how these once-in-a-generation investments from the bipartisan infrastructure law are delivering for you and our state.
As always, I encourage all Fifth District residents to continue to share their concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. If you are experiencing a personal difficulty such as issues accessing veterans benefits or another problem regarding a federal agency and you wish for my office to place an inquiry on your behalf, please complete the casework request form by clicking here.
