Hoyer Visits Small Business in Lanham to Highlight Benefits of Ex-Im Bank
LANHAM, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) today visited McMurdo, a small business in Lanham, Maryland, that leads the world in the design and manufacture of emergency beacons, tracking and monitoring solutions, and navigation infrastructure systems for use on land and at sea. The visit took place following the passage of legislation in the House of Representatives this week to reopen the Export-Import Bank, which McMurdo has benefitted from.
"I was pleased to visit McMurdo this afternoon, which is responsible for designing, developing and testing new search and rescue and maritime coastal surveillance systems that are sold to countries throughout the world," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "McMurdo has had the opportunity to expand its markets and create good jobs here at home while utilizing the Export-Import Bank. I was proud to lead bipartisan efforts to reopen the Ex-Im Bank this week after House Republicans allowed its charter to expire four months ago. Reopening the bank will help businesses in Maryland and across the country save and create jobs for American workers by helping them sell their products around the world. I will continue to be a strong supporter of the Ex-Im Bank so more small businesses like McMurdo can compete on a level playing field in overseas markets."
McMurdo's Lanham office employs 48 people ranging from research and development teams to project management professionals, sales, administrative and operations staff.
