Hoyer Visits Maryland Health Connection Regional Site
SILVER SPRING, MD –Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited the Capital Region Health Connector Entity, one of several connector entities created by the Maryland Health Connection to provide free, in-person assistance to Marylanders seeking health coverage through the state's insurance marketplace. The site is located in Silver Spring, Maryland and serves Prince George's and Montgomery counties.
"I was pleased to see navigators and assisters in action today at the Capital Region Health Connector Entity helping consumers understand the differences between health care plans, determine their eligibility for financial assistance or Medicaid, and enroll," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The Capital Region Health Connector is one of the busiest in-person enrollments sites that serves Fifth District residents of Prince George's County. During my visit, I had the opportunity to tour the site with a second-year navigator who also discussed her day-to-day duties of educating applicants about the enrollment process as well as how to successfully access services once the enrollment process is complete."
"In the first few days of open enrollment, more than 15,000 consumers have enrolled through the Maryland Health Connection," continued Congressman Hoyer. "I encourage Fifth District residents and Marylanders to make an appointment today with a navigator at one of the six regional connector entities to receive in-person assistance on how to browse qualified health plans and get covered."
Consumers can enroll online or find in-person assistance locations and enrollment events at www.marylandhealthconnection.com. The Consumer Support Center is also open at 1-855-642-8572 to take phone applications or to answer any questions.
