Hoyer Visits Maryland Aerospace, Inc. in Crofton
CROFTON, MD –Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) today visited Maryland Aerospace, Inc., (MAI) a small business that designs and builds small spacecraft and spacecraft subsystems. During his visit, he met with employees and discussed his Make It In America jobs plan he has been leading in Congress since 2010, as well as the steps he is taking to update the plan to reflect today's economy.
"I was proud to see the extraordinary work in the development of space technology taking place at Maryland Aerospace, Inc. in the Fifth District," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "MAI started in the basement of a house nearly two decades ago with one person; today it has expanded to 17 employees, and is a successful model for how to attract high-tech manufacturing and innovation jobs to Maryland. I will continue to work in Congress to support small businesses like MAI and the research and innovation they do which helps to spur job creation and strengthen our economy."
"We were really pleased to speak with Congressman Hoyer about the exciting high-tech jobs we've been creating here in Crofton, Maryland for over ten years now," said Steve Fujikawa, Founder and President of Maryland Aerospace, Inc. "Maryland Aerospace is a small business at the leading edge of a new space industry for the 21st century, building spacecraft for a few million dollars instead of hundreds of millions of dollars. We think this technology is transformational for the future use of space by government, academia, and industry and we look to enlightened leaders like Congressman Hoyer to help us grow our business and revolutionize the future of aerospace in the U.S."
MAI's present and former customers include NASA, the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
