Hoyer Visits Immediate Response Technologies to Discuss Democrats' Make It In America Agenda

GLENN DALE, MD – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited Immediate Response Technologies as part of his "Make It In America" tour,  to discuss the Democrats' Make It In America agenda and issues of importance to their business as they work to successfully compete in the global economy.

"The Make It In America agenda is a plan to rebuild American manufacturing and create well-paying jobs for the middle class," stated Congressman Hoyer. "In today's meeting, the representatives and employees of Immediate Response Technologies emphasized the desire of our local manufacturers to compete in the global economy, and I am committed to ensuring that they have the resources and support to do so. It is critical to the future of our economy that we work together to create jobs, strengthen our infrastructure here in Maryland and throughout the country, and prioritize investments in key areas like education and energy innovation, so that businesses like IRT can continue America's proud tradition of making things and selling them to the world."

Immediate Response Technologies was incorporated on January 28, 1977, when it introduced its patented Radiant Heating Panels to the commercial marketplace. In 1980, IRT began providing technical assistance in the area of military thermal targets. In addition to work for the Department of Defense, IRT's products and services are used by the Army National Guard and Air Guard in all 50 U.S. states. IRT designs, manufactures and markets a variety of products, including rapid deploy shelter systems for first responders, first receivers, government, military, and commercial markets.

Make It In America is a legislative initiative from House Democrats to increase American manufacturing and create new American jobs.  Throughout the past year, Hoyer has visited with many of the owners and employees and toured the facilities of manufacturers located in the Fifth District, including Antenna Research Associates, Stone Industrial, ProtoCAD Corporation, JEM Engineering, A.D.J. Sheet Metal, Capital Plastics Company, Techno Sciences, and Stromberg Sheet Metal Works.
