January 24, 2014

WALDORF, MD– Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited Hospice of Charles County today to tour the Hospice House and meet with staff. The facility opened in May 2012 and can accommodate up to 10 patients at a time.

"I was pleased to visit Hospice House in Charles County today to learn more about the services that Hospice staff and volunteers provide to families in Southern Maryland," stated Congressman Hoyer. "I know firsthand the real difference that Hospice makes in the lives of individuals and their caregivers as they manage terminal illness. I thank Hospice staff and volunteers for the support and comfort they provide and for taking the time to meet with me today."

"We were so honored to have Congressman Hoyer visit the Charles County Hospice House today.  His personal appreciation of Hospice, particularly the services we provide to those who need our care, was clearly heartfelt.  We immediately felt like he was part of our Hospice team," said Desiree Holkon, Chairman of the Board for Hospice of Charles County.

Established in 1983, Hospice of Charles County is a nonprofit, community based organization that provides pain and symptom management to individuals diagnosed with a terminal illness.
