Hoyer Visits Greater Baden Medical Services to Discuss Critical Efforts to Increase Vaccine Access in Prince George's County
BRANDYWINE, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) visited Greater Baden Medical Services, a Federally Qualified Health Center that was recently chosen to participate into the Biden Administration's equitable vaccination program at the request of Rep. Hoyer, which will strengthen efforts to get more vaccines in the arms of residents in underserved communities and eliminate disparities in access.
"Greater Baden Medical Services has been providing residents with access to affordable, quality health care for years, and now that it has been admitted into the Biden Administration's COVID-19 vaccination program, it will provide vital assistance to Maryland's 5th District as we work aggressively to defeat COVID-19," said Congressman Hoyer.
"Addressing the challenges that underserved communities in Maryland face remains a priority for me, and I am confident after speaking to the Greater Baden physicians and team members that we are making important progress," continued Congressman Hoyer. "I was proud to have pushed for the admission of Greater Baden Medical Services into the Administration's vaccine program, and I will continue working to advance equity and access across our state. I am grateful to the Greater Baden staff who are working around the clock to keep Maryland's Fifth District families safe."
"We are so grateful for Congressman Hoyer's support of Federally Qualified Health Centers and the work of Greater Baden in Southern Maryland," said Sonja Bachus, Chief Executive Officer at Greater Baden Medical Services. "Through the recent ARPA funding, strongly supported by Congressman Hoyer among other legislators, Greater Baden has received critical funding that will allow us to expand COVID vaccine administration and many other services including remote patient monitoring and telehealth visits enabling us to better serve more individuals in the region."
Greater Baden serves nearly 20,000 insured and uninsured Marylanders and was selected along with 700 other Community Health Centers around the nation to participate in Health Center COVID-19 Vaccine Program, launched by the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
