Hoyer Visits Adcor Industries to Discuss Make It In America Agenda
BALTIMORE, MD – This morning, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited Adcor Industries as part of his "Make It In America" tour, to discuss the Democrats' Make It In America agenda and issues of importance to their business as they work to successfully compete in the global economy.
"The Make It In America agenda is a plan to rebuild American manufacturing and create well-paying jobs for the middle class," stated Congressman Hoyer. "Meeting today with representatives and employees of Adcor Industries, I saw firsthand the desire of our local manufacturers to compete in the global economy, and I am committed to ensuring that they have the resources and support to do so. It is critical to the future of our economy that we work together to create jobs, strengthen our infrastructure here in Maryland and throughout the country, and prioritize investments in key areas like education and energy innovation, so that businesses like Adcor can continue America's proud tradition of making things and selling them to the world."
Adcor Industries was founded in 1990 by Demetrios Stavrakis, the son of a Greek immigrant who had started a machine shop business in the 1960s. With over 100 employees, Adcor is an engineering and manufacturing facility with machining, design and metrology capabilities. Adcor serves a broad range of the needs of both government and commercial contractors throughout the nation, supplying precision-machined components for a wide variety of applications including aerospace, telecommunications and weapons systems.
Make It In America is a legislative initiative from House Democrats to increase American manufacturing and create new American jobs. Throughout the past year, Hoyer has visited with many of the owners and employees and toured the facilities of manufacturers located in the Fifth District, including Immediate Response Technologies, Antenna Research Associates, Stone Industrial, ProtoCAD Corporation, JEM Engineering, A.D.J. Sheet Metal, Capital Plastics Company, Techno Sciences, and Stromberg Sheet Metal Works.
