Hoyer Tour Under Armour Global Headquarters
BALTIMORE, MD –Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) toured Under Armour's Global Headquarters today with senior leadership at their facilities in Baltimore. Rep. Hoyer was joined by his colleagues, Congressmen John Sarbanes and Dutch Ruppersberger, for a campus tour that included the Performance Center and Promenade, Station House, and the Studios at Cheer and Retail Lab.
"Under Armour is a great success story for business owners looking to grow their companies here in Maryland and across America," said Congressman Hoyer. "I'm proud that this is a company that started in Maryland and is now a leader in our nation's sportswear market. It is important that we continue to encourage companies like Under Armour to innovate and create new products. That's why I've been leading a jobs agenda in Congress called Make It In America to do just that."
"Under Armour's leadership in digital fitness and health is a prime example of how American companies are successfully innovating in, and adapting to, our twenty-first century economy," said Congressman John Sarbanes. "The company's success should be a source of pride not only for Baltimore but also for the country – especially as we look to create more well-paying and technologically advanced jobs in America."
"Under Armour is not only an American success story, it's a Maryland success story," said Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger. "Companies like this that are able to create and innovate products are also able to create and sustain quality jobs. It's up to Congress to do what it can to help manufacturers help us rebuild our already-improving economy and help Americans support their families."
Under Armour was founded in 1996 by Maryland native Kevin Plank and employs thousands of Marylanders. The tour also included Under Armour's state-of-the-art Innovation Lab that contains advanced elements like an OptiTrack motion capture camera, an environmental chamber, a high speed camera, and a materials testing lab.
