Hoyer: There is Seemingly No Limit to the Steps This Administration Will Take to Weaken the Civil Service

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on the Trump Administration's rule to allow contractors to discriminate against employees:

“This rule is a cynical abuse of power by a lame duck President, and yet another attempt by this Administration to weaken the civil service by making it easier for federal contractors to discriminate against employees. This latest attempt to discriminate against women, minorities, and LGBTQ Americans ought to alarm every citizen. Rolling back basic civil rights protections to which every American has a right will make it easier to unjustly fire workers who, through the contractors that employ them, are delivering vital government services to every American. 

“There is seemingly no limit to the steps this Administration will take to weaken the federal government. I look forward to working closely with the Biden-Harris Administration to reverse these harmful policies as quickly as possible.”
