Hoyer Statement on Retirement of William C. Baker
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on the retirement of Chesapeake Bay Foundation President William C. Baker:
"In announcing his retirement today, my friend Will Baker leaves behind an unmatched legacy as a dedicated advocate for the Chesapeake Bay. In all his years as President of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, he has shown a sincere passion for improving the health of the Bay and ensuring that its environmental resources are preserved for years to come.
"I've had the privilege of working with Will over the years and thank him for his efforts to restore the Bay by championing initiatives to clean up its tributaries, reduce pollution, and educate Marylanders on the country's largest estuary. Under Will's leadership, more Marylanders are taking action to fight and preserve the health of one of our nation's greatest national treasures.
"It is fitting that Will started his journey with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation when he was just an intern and has since grown to be a faithful public servant. I thank him for all of his efforts over the years to restore our beloved Chesapeake Bay and wish him well in his retirement."
