Hoyer Statement on Proposed Attacks on Federal Employees in President Trump's FY18 Budget

May 19, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after the Washington Post reported that President Trump's Fiscal Year 2018 budget will propose significant cuts to federal employee retirement benefits:

"I am extremely alarmed by reports indicating that President Trump's Fiscal Year 2018 budget will impose significant cuts to the retirement benefits of federal employees. Attacks like these on federal employees will prevent our government from recruiting the best and brightest workforce possible – and that harms the American people, who should have the best people working for them.

"I will continue to advocate for our hardworking civil servants, and I will actively oppose any efforts that unfairly target federal employees."
