Hoyer Statement on President Obama Signing Legislation into Law to Allow Construction to Proceed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after President Obama signed into law H.R. 4120, legislation co-sponsored by Congressman Hoyer to allow construction to proceed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Museum:
"I am pleased that the President signed bipartisan legislation, H.R. 4120, into law today, which I was proud to co-sponsor along with Rep. Frank Wolf of Virginia. Our bill enables the National Law Enforcement Museum Fund to break ground and begin construction of a museum to serve as a permanent memorial to the approximately 20,000 men and women who have fallen in the line of duty throughout our history. It will preserve their stories for generations of Americans who will visit and learn about these heroes and their dedication to community and country. I will continue to do all I can to ensure that law enforcement officers in Maryland and throughout the United States have the resources they need to do their jobs safely, and I look forward to visiting the National Law Enforcement Museum when it opens in a few years."
