Hoyer Statement on the Passing of Former Governor Marvin Mandel

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5)released the following statement today on the passing of former Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel:

"I was deeply saddened to learn about the death of my friend and former Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel. I had the privilege of working with Governor Mandel during my time in the Maryland Senate and in the Congress. As governor and a state legislator, he had a vision which led to substantial accomplishments on behalf of the people of Maryland related to education, health care, and transportation. He was a true leader who made Maryland a better place to live and I join tonight in celebrating his many accomplishments to our state. I extend my deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult time."
