Hoyer Statement on the Passing of David C. Harrington

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement on the passing of David C. Harrington, a community leader in Prince George's County:

"I will deeply miss my friend David Harrington, who served Prince George's County with commitment and leadership throughout his career. David dedicated his life to building up communities across Prince George's County. His work in public service began back in 1995 when he became the Mayor of Bladensburg, driven by his desire to improve the quality of life for all, he also served on the Prince George's County Council and as a legislator in the Maryland State Senate. Throughout his career, David was an advocate for Maryland businesses and workers, and I was glad to have worked alongside him for over a decade when he served as CEO of the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce. Whether in his role as a leader, a mentor, or an advocate, David was beloved in our community and was an inspiration to many. I was proud to call David a friend and I share my sympathies with his family and the entire Prince George's County community."
