WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today on the passage of a continuing resolution to fund government through December 20:
“I am disappointed that the House of Representatives was forced to pass yet another continuing resolution to fund the government because of the Senate’s failure to complete their work on appropriations bills. Rather than kicking the can down the road and passing short-term funding bills, we must work together to pass appropriations bills and fully fund the government before the end of the year. We should be providing families across the country, including the more than 62,000 federal employees I’m proud to represent in the Fifth District, with the certainty that government will be responsibly funded.
“This is not how government is supposed to function. With the passage of this continuing resolution, I will continue to call on my colleagues in the Senate to work with the House to fully fund government before the end of the year.”
