Hoyer Statement on OPM's Report on Official Time

May 17, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) released a report on Fiscal Year 2016 Official Time:

"The Trump Administration has once more targeted the federal civilian workforce. In the report released today by the Office of Personnel Management, the Administration is again undermining the right of federal employees to engage in union activities on official time. Official time is an important tool used to resolve disputes between agencies and their employees and improves the productivity of our workforce.

"It is deeply frustrating that the Trump Administration continually denigrates hardworking federal employees. Official time saves taxpayer money and is to the benefit of thousands of employees throughout the federal government. I will continue to oppose any efforts by the Trump Administration to undermine the federal civilian workforce."
