Hoyer Statement on New Oversight Letter on the FBI Headquarters Project
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after Elijah Cummings, Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and Peter DeFazio, Ranking Member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee led a letter to General Services Administrator Emily Murphy raising concerns about President Trump's involvement in the FBI headquarters relocation project:
"I applaud Ranking Members Elijah Cummings and Peter DeFazio for pressing the Trump Administration on the FBI headquarters project. The growing allegations that President Trump was personally involved in the decision to keep the headquarters at the current site on Pennsylvania Avenue are alarming. The American people deserve to know why the previous process to relocate the FBI headquarters to a consolidated space outside of downtown DC was canceled, and whether the President's financial interests had anything to do with this decision. I strongly urge the General Services Administration to quickly fulfill the requests laid out in this letter."
