Hoyer Statement on National Night Out

FIFTH DISTRICT, MD –  Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement tonight after attending National Night Out events in Crofton and Bowie:  

"Each year, I'm proud to see members of the community come together with law enforcement personnel and others to raise awareness about drug and crime prevention during National Night Out.  The best way to make our communities stronger and keep young people away from crime, drugs, and violence is to ensure that law enforcement and community members are working together as partners and communicating effectively with each other and with local youth.  For over thirty years, the National Night Out has been a successful tool to help get more people involved in making neighborhoods safer and more secure, and I am confident that conversations and relationships that are built through this program will extend far beyond tonight's activities."
