Hoyer Statement on a Moment of Reflection Honoring Second Lt. Richard Collins III

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today as members of the University of Maryland, College Park and Bowie State University communities pause at 12:05 p.m. for a moment of reflection to honor the life of Second Lt. Richard Collins III, a Bowie State University student who was killed on the University of Maryland campus earlier this year:

"Today, I join together with President Dr. Wallace Loh, President Dr. Aminta Breaux, and the University of Maryland and the Bowie State University communities to honor the life of Second Lt. Richard Collins III. As students return to both campuses for the upcoming school year, we rededicate ourselves to ensuring our institutions of higher education are welcoming and safe for all. I continue to offer my support to the family and friends of Richard, as well as students, faculty, and parents at college campuses across Maryland."
