Hoyer Statement on Lawsuit Filed by the State of Maryland Against the Environmental Protection Agency

September 28, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after a lawsuit was filed by the state of Maryland against the Environmental Protection Agency to force Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia to take steps to address air pollution:

"I am pleased that Attorney General Brian Frosh filed a lawsuit on behalf of the state of Maryland against the Environmental Protection Agency to address air pollution from neighboring states. While our state has worked to improve air quality and reduce pollution, these efforts have been hindered by the less stringent enforcement of pollution prevention in nearby states. I am encouraged by the action taken by Attorney General Frosh, and I will continue to monitor this case."
