Hoyer Statement on the Failure of Senate Republicans' "Skinny Repeal" of the Affordable Care Act

July 28, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after Senate Republicans' "skinny repeal" of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) failed on the Senate Floor early this morning:

"Now that the Senate has voted down all attempts to repeal or replace the Affordable Care Act presented by President Trump and Republicans in Congress, it's time for Republicans to once and for all abandon their efforts to undo the law. Repealing the Affordable Care Act would take away health insurance from hundreds of thousands of Marylanders and drive up premiums for families throughout our state.

"With the Senate's firm rejection of multiple attempts to repeal the ACA, Republicans ought to work with Democrats to stabilize insurance markets and ensure all families, in Maryland and across our nation, have access to quality, affordable health care."
