Hoyer Statement on Evergreen Health
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after the Maryland Insurance Administration announced that Evergreen Health will not offer health plans on the individual market in 2017:
"I am deeply concerned that Republican efforts at the national level to undermine the Affordable Care Act have led to the instability of co-ops, including Evergreen Health in Maryland. This instability creates disruption in the marketplace and can potentially threaten access to health coverage for many Marylanders. I am focused on ensuring that Evergreen's current customers can continue to access affordable health coverage through the Maryland Health Connection, and I will be working closely with the Maryland Delegation, Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer, and other stakeholders to protect and strengthen Maryland's marketplace in the months and years to come. I will also strongly oppose continued efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which would take away coverage from nearly half a million Marylanders."
