Hoyer Statement on Equal Pay Day
April 4, 2017
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on Equal Pay Day:
"Today on Equal Pay Day, we recommit ourselves to the goal of ensuring equal work means equal pay for all men and women in our country. In the Fifth District, a woman earns just 85 cents to every dollar their male counterpart makes. This pay inequality has a real impact on families across our district and our state, many of whom depend on women as their sole breadwinner. That's why I'm proud to be an original co-sponsor of the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill that was introduced today to help end the wage gap. I urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support equal pay and work together to pass this critical legislation."
