Hoyer Statement on Earth Day

April 22, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today in recognition of Earth Day:

"This Earth Day, I join all Marylanders in reflecting on the progress we have made to improve the health of our land, air, and water and recommitting ourselves to the work that remains to be done to preserve our natural resources. Here in Maryland, we have an important responsibility to restore the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, including the Patuxent, Potomac, Anacostia, St. Mary's, and
South Rivers. Throughout my career, I have been committed to securing the necessary resources to improve these waterways and restore the oyster population so that we can preserve our environment and strengthen Maryland's economy. Today, let us rededicate ourselves to policies and efforts that will conserve the Bay and other natural resources in our state for future generations."
