Hoyer Statement on Debt Limit Deal and Federal Employees
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today:
"Throughout negotiations on the debt limit, I fought to ensure that federal employees were not expected to pay more than their fair share, and I think it is appropriate that the agreement reached between President Obama and Congressional leaders does not disproportionately impact federal employees. These men and women have clearly sacrificed to help put the nation on sounder fiscal footing, and it is essential that they not be singled out to make additional sacrifices that, on top of the 2-year pay freeze, would impose greater financial challenges on them. In the days and months ahead, as we continue working to address our Nation's long-term deficit, I will continue fighting for federal employees."
