Hoyer Statement on the Beginning of the 2023 Open Enrollment Period

November 1, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today on the first day of the 2023 open enrollment period. Marylanders must sign up by December 15, 2022 to have coverage beginning January 1, 2023. The Maryland open enrollment period ends on January 15, 2023:

With the 2023 open enrollment period beginning today, I encourage all Marylanders to visit MarylandHealthConnection.gov(link is external) by December 15 to browse and sign up for affordable, quality health-care plans that begin on January 1, 2023. Even Marylanders who already have health insurance ought to check the website to check rates and ensure that their plan meets their needs going into the new year.

"Next year, we expect to see monthly health premiums go down by hundreds of dollars for as many as 153,000 Marylanders thanks to tax credits in the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act, both of which I was proud to help lead House Democrats in enacting. I hope Marylanders will log on to MarylandHealthConnection.gov to see if they can benefit from these savings.

"I will continue working with my colleagues to expand affordable health-care access, lower prescription drug costs, and cap out-of-pocket medical expenses for families across Maryland and America."

Marylanders can enroll in coverage online at MarylandHealthConnection.gov. They can also download the "Enroll MHC" app to shop and apply for coverage on a mobile device. The app is available for free in the App Store (iOS) and the Google Play Store (Android). Free assistance is available over the phone by calling toll-free 1-855-642-8572 (TTY: 1-855-642-8573) to reach the consumer support center. The deadline to sign up for coverage for 2023 is December 15. For more information on the Maryland Health Connection, click here(link is external).
