Hoyer Statement on 9/11 Anniversary
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today commemorating the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001:
"As we mark thirteen years since the heinous attack on our country on September 11, we come together to remember the 2,977 Americans who were taken from their families, friends, and communities. In the Fifth District, we offer the families affected our thoughts, our prayers, and a promise that their loved ones who were lost on that tragic day will never be forgotten.
"We also join together in thanking the first responders, including many from the Fifth District who responded at that moment of crisis, as well as the brave men and women who have served in the Armed Forces since then, defending our nation at home and abroad. I'm proud to represent many of them in Congress, and I will continue to stand by them in support of their critical mission to keep America safe and secure.
"While September 11 is marked by pain and profound loss for our nation, it also a day that was characterized by extraordinary heroism. Let us remember those who lost their lives, those who worked quickly to save others, and those who responded to the call of duty in our Armed Forces, and let us stand together to honor their legacy."
