Hoyer Speaks at Military Officers of America's Congressional Luncheon

September 17, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – This morning on Capitol Hill, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) delivered remarks at the Maryland Council of Chapters' Congressional Luncheon. The Council is an affiliate of the Military Officers of America's (MOAA).

"It was an honor to welcome the Maryland Council of Chapters to Capitol Hill today and to join their members for their annual luncheon," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "The Military Officers Association of America continues to be a powerful advocate not only for retirees and their families, but for all those who continue to serve on active duty. In Maryland, we are incredibly proud of our state's strong connection to all branches of the military. Many military officers who came to Maryland to serve at some of our nation's top installations like Pax River, Indian Head, Webster Field, and Joint Base Andrews have stayed in the area following their retirement from military service and helped build strong communities off base."

"The Maryland Council continues to play a critical role in providing a powerful, united voice for Maryland's military officers and retirees, and I thank them for their work," continued Congressman Hoyer. "It is crucial that they remain engaged both in Annapolis and Washington. I look forward to continuing to work with the Maryland Council to ensure we maintain the strongest, best trained, best paid, and most capable military force in the world, and to make certain that we are keeping our promises to those who are serving and have served."

MOAA is the nation's largest association of military officers working to support military officers and their families at every stage of life. MOAA plays an active role with Congress on behalf of the military community on issues that affect the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services.
