Hoyer Participates in Make It In America Roundtable with Rep. Sarbanes, RMI & Maryland Manufacturers
BALTIMORE, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) joined Congressman John Sarbanes (MD-3), the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland, and Maryland manufacturers, for a roundtable discussion on job creation and the future of manufacturing in Maryland. The meeting included discussions on how the Make It In America agenda can help local businesses create jobs and compete globally, what is being done legislatively to help manufacturers create jobs in Maryland, an overview of the mission of the Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland, and an overview of a trade mission to Asia that Governor Martin O'Malley recently led.
"‘Make It In America' means supporting local businesses and encouraging them to make products here in the United States and sell them to the world," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The Make It In America agenda speaks to the importance of manufacturing to our economy and the need to create jobs for America's middle class – both of which are key to our nation's success and economic strength. I am pleased to participate in today's event, and I will continue working with Maryland businesses to ensure that they have the assistance they need to grow, prosper, and compete successfully in the global economy."
"The manufacturing sector will be the leading edge of our economic recovery," said Congressman John Sarbanes. "Supporting innovative businesses that ‘Make it in America' is the key to creating jobs, rebuilding our economy and our country."
