WASHINGTON, DC  – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with Special Olympics CEO Timothy Shriver and athletes from Maryland on their Capitol Hill Day.

"Special Olympics is an outstanding organization that enhances the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities," stated Congressman Hoyer. "I was pleased to meet with Tim Shriver and athletes from Maryland to discuss how this organization is improving and advancing opportunities for participants. Last year, I was proud to reintroduce the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Act, which supports people with intellectual disabilities and their families and honors the legacy of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who founded Special Olympics. I continue to urge my colleagues to pass this bipartisan legislation and work to improve the quality of life for all people with disabilities."
