Hoyer Meets with Prince George's County Health Department to Discuss CHIP in Maryland

January 12, 2018

LARGO, MD – This morning, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with officials from the Prince George's County Health Department and families benefiting from the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Maryland. Nearly 140,000 children in the state of Maryland have access to affordable health care through CHIP.

"Ensuring children in our state have access to quality, and affordable, health care must remain a top priority," said Congressman Hoyer. "The Children's Health Insurance Program provides health care to children from working families who wouldn't otherwise have access to care. That's why Congress must pass legislation to sustainably fund CHIP for years to come."

"I appreciated the opportunity to hear directly from families in the Fifth District whose children receive care through the program," continued Congressman Hoyer. "I want to thank the Prince George's County Health Department for the important work they are doing to assist families in our community. Providing long-term funding for this crucial program remains one of my top priorities, and I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure all children in Maryland have access to affordable health care."
