Hoyer Meets with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center Director Christopher Scolese

June 15, 2017

WASHINGTON, DC – Yesterday afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with Christopher Scolese, Director of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, to discuss the critically important work done at the Center in Greenbelt.

"I was pleased to have the opportunity to meet with Director Scolese to reaffirm my strong support for NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and the important work carried out by hardworking federal employees to maintain America's global leadership in science and technology," said Congressman Hoyer. "The cuts proposed in President Trump's Fiscal Year 2018 budget would have severe consequences at NASA Goddard, diminishing our ability to monitor the health of our environment and combat the effects of climate change."

"The dedicated federal workforce at NASA Goddard helps us better understand our environment and changing climate, enhances our understanding of the universe, and works to develop new innovations and technologies," Congressman Hoyer continued. "The Trump Administration's budget not only undermines the crucial work done at NASA Goddard, it also harms federal employees. I will continue to work with Director Scolese and my colleagues in Congress to prevent this proposal from advancing, and stand up for NASA Goddard and our hardworking federal workforce."
