Hoyer Meets with Maryland Middle School Principal of the Year Jason Dykstra
WASHINGTON, DC – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with Jason Dykstra, Principal of Southern Middle School in Lothian, Maryland. Dykstra has been recognized as the Maryland Middle School Principal of the Year by the MetLife/National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) Principal of the Year program and is visiting Washington to attend the Principal's Institute and Awards Banquet.
"I was proud to meet with Jason today to congratulate him on this wonderful accomplishment," stated Congressman Hoyer. "It is thanks to educators like him that Maryland is home to the nation's number one public schools for the fifth year in a row. I join all Marylanders in thanking him and his colleagues for their hard work and dedication to our students."
Since 1993, the MetLife/NASSP National Principal of the Year program has recognized outstanding middle level and high school principals. The program annually honors one middle school and one high school principal from each state. The honorees are invited by Metlife/NASSP to Washington to salute their work and provide a forum for best practices
