Hoyer Meets with Local NARFE Representatives
GREENBELT, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with local representatives from the National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Association.
"I'm proud to represent 62,000 federal employees in the Fifth District, and I was so pleased to meet with representatives from NARFE to discuss how we can continue to support our federal workforce," said Congressman Hoyer. "Federal employees have already contributed $168 billion to deficit reduction, and I strongly oppose efforts to continue to target their pay and benefits. If we are to recruit talented personnel and have the best civil service in the world, then we must ensure our workers are treated fairly. I will continue to work closely with NARFE and others to advocate on behalf of hardworking federal employees who strengthen the security and well-being of our nation."
NARFE, one of America's oldest and largest associations, was founded in 1921 with the mission of protecting the earned rights and benefits of America's active and retired federal workers. The organization counts nearly 300,000 members with 1,300 chapters across the country, including many in Maryland's Fifth District.
