Hoyer Meets with Fifth District Make It In America Advisory Committee

June 10, 2013

LARGO, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) held a meeting with his Fifth District Make It In America Advisory Committee to discuss the Make It In America plan for the 113th Congress, which aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and job creation.

"I was pleased to meet with the Fifth District Make It In America Advisory Committee today to continue discussing the jobs plan I am leading in Congress and hear their ideas on steps we can take in Prince George's County and Southern Maryland to help our businesses grow and add jobs," stated Congressman Hoyer. "The central Make It In America priorities for the 113th Congress came about in no small part thanks to this Committee's input. Since unveiling these priorities earlier this year, Members of Congress have introduced dozens of Make It In America bills, including many with Republican support. I want to thank the Advisory Committee for joining me today and for their unique perspective on how Congress can help businesses make more products in America, so that more families can make it in America – and right here in Maryland."

Last year, Congressman Hoyer established his Make It In America Advisory Committee, which includes local manufacturers, business leaders, labor leaders, education officials, economic development agencies, and other stakeholders. The Advisory Committee meets regularly to discuss what policies and actions are needed to ensure businesses have the best environment to innovate, make products, and create jobs in America and in Maryland.

In April, Congressman Hoyer unveiled the four key priorities of the updated Make It In America plan: adopting and pursuing a national manufacturing strategy; promoting the export of U.S. goods; encouraging businesses to bring jobs and innovation back to the U.S.; and training and securing a 21st century workforce.
