Hoyer: Make It In America Agenda Continues to Move Forward
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after the Congressional Made In America Promise Act (H.R. 2039) and the Berry Amendment Extension Act (H.R. 3116) passed the House today with strong bipartisan support: "As Democrats continue to focus on job creation, a key piece of boosting the economy is strengthening our manufacturing sector. With our Make It In America agenda, Democrats are working to increase good, manufacturing jobs across the U.S. and right here in Maryland. Today we passed two bills that emphasize the need to make more products in America. The President has already signed three pieces of our Make It In America agenda into law, and I hope these bills are swiftly enacted as well." The Congressional Made In America Promise Act (H.R. 2039) clarifies that the Buy American Act applies to products purchased by Congress, and the Berry Amendment Extension Act (H.R. 3116) prohibits the Department of Homeland Security from buying clothing and other items unless they are grown, reprocessed, reused, or produced in the U.S. ### |
