March 11, 2014

WHITE PLAINS, MD– In recognition of National Kidney Month, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) visited DaVita Dialysis Center, a leading provider of kidney care. During the visit, he received a briefing from staff and met with patients.

"I was pleased to join staff at DaVita in White Plains during National Kidney Month to learn about the care they are providing to Americans with kidney disease, which affects one in ten adults in our country," stated Congressman Hoyer. "With more than 20 million Americans over the age of 20 with kidney disease, we must ensure that quality, affordable health care services are available for those in need of kidney care, as well as increase awareness and prevention efforts to help slow down or stop the progression of chronic kidney disease. I thank the Center for providing an informative briefing on how DaVita is assisting patients here in Southern Maryland and throughout the country."

DaVita is the second largest dialysis provider in the country, operating or providing administrative services at 2,074 outpatient dialysis centers in the U.S. and serving approximately 163,000 patients. The company also operates 73 outpatient dialysis centers located in ten countries outside the United States.
