Hoyer on Death of State Trooper Anthony Jones

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny Hoyer (D-MD) released the following statement today on the death of Trooper First Class Anthony Jones, a Maryland State Police Trooper killed yesterday in the line of duty.

"I was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Trooper Anthony Jones. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very difficult time. As the recipient of awards for his valor and bravery, and as the anticipated recipient of the "Top Cop" award from the College Park Barracks this month, Trooper Jones demonstrated a commitment to public service and a sincere dedication to protecting and serving our community.

"As we pay tribute this week to law enforcement officials who have fallen in the line of duty as part of Police Week, we especially honor Tfc. Jones for his contribution to our freedom and security. His service to our country, and his selfless service to his community will long be remembered with the utmost gratitude and respect. I send my deepest sympathies to his family."
