Hoyer Attends Luncheon with Andrews Business & Community Alliance
CLINTON, MD – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended a luncheon with members of the Andrews Business & Community Alliance and representatives from Joint Base Andrews to discuss the fiscal cliff and other issues impacting the community.
"This afternoon, I joined the Andrews Business and Community Alliance to discuss the serious challenge facing Congress in the form of the impending fiscal cliff," stated Congressman Hoyer. "If we allow the fiscal cliff to hit, the consequences will be felt here in Prince George's County and across the country. That's why both parties must put all options on the table and work together on a big and balanced deficit reduction solution that includes spending cuts and increased revenues to replace the deep and arbitrary defense cuts that would hurt our national security as well as local economic growth."
"In addition, I have been working closely with Senators Mikulski and Cardin to prevent the Pentagon from moving Navy Reserve VAQ-209 Electronic Attack Squadron from Joint Base Andrews," continued Congressman Hoyer. "Joint Base Andrews has been an anchor for the communities of central Prince George's County and central to our national defense, and I'd like to thank the Alliance for their work to highlight its importance to our nation and region."
