Hoyer Applauds President Biden’s Proposed Federal Pay Raise

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today following reports that President Biden will propose a 4.6 percent increase to federal employee and military service member pay in his upcoming budget:

"I am pleased that President Biden will include a 4.6 percent pay raise for federal employees and military service members in his upcoming budget, honoring the principle of pay parity that I have long advocated for in the U.S. Congress. This raise would be the workforce's largest increase in twenty years, and is well-deserved for our both hardworking civil servants and military personnel who play an essential role in our country and our democracy. Under the former Administration, significant cuts and freezes posed great risk to our federal employees and their ability to serve, and I am grateful that President Biden has continued to stand by government workers and recognize they deserve fair compensation for their service to all Americans.

“I am proud to represent over 62,000 federal employees in Maryland’s Fifth District who work tirelessly to create a better nation for us all. I will continue fighting and advocating for the men and women in the federal workforce so that our country can recruit and retain America's brightest minds.”
