Hoyer Announces Federal Funding for Fifth District Community Health Centers
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) today announced more than $531,000 in Affordable Care Act funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for community health centers in the Fifth District. Greater Baden Medical Services in Prince George's County will receive $286,484 in funding and Owensville Primary Care in Anne Arundel County was awarded $244,838 to increase access to services such as medical, oral, behavioral, pharmacy, and vision care.
"I'm pleased that Owensville Primary Care and Greater Baden Medical Services will receive this funding to help Fifth District residents get the local health care they need," said Congressman Steny Hoyer. "Since the enactment of the Affordable Care Act, community health centers have become an important resource to our local communities providing a wide range of quality and affordable health care services. The expanded services from this funding will make a big difference for Marylanders in need of reliable care, especially those in underserved communities."
This grant funding is a part of $500 million in Affordable Care Act funding the Obama administration announced this week to support health centers across the country. The Health Center Expanded Services build on HHS's investments to expand access to affordable care for the millions of Americans who have become insured thanks to the Affordable Care Act.
