Hoyer Announces $49,000 Grant Award for St. Mary's County
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) announced a $49,000 grant award from the U.S. Economic Development Administration for St. Mary's County. The grant will be used to perform a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for St. Mary's County.
"I'm pleased St. Mary's County has been awarded this important federal funding to conduct an economic development strategy," stated Congressman Hoyer. "While I continue to focus on a strong federal presence in St. Mary's County and throughout Maryland, greater economic diversification will ensure a stronger regional economy. As we've seen in other parts of the country, we have the opportunity to leverage federal assets in our area to help build up the local private sector and spur greater development. I look forward to working with all stakeholders, both in the public and private sector, as we pursue a strategy for diversification and job creation in our region."
The grant award and matching funds will help bring together public and private sectors in the creation of an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.
