Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) joined Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, Maryland State Senator Michael A. Jackson, MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center President Stephen T. Michaels, MD, and MedStar leadership for a ribbon cutting ceremony dedicated to the fully-renovated, state-of-the-art behavioral health unit at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Prince George’s County. At the event, Congressman Hoyer delivered remarks focused on the urgent need to address behavioral health challenges in the Fifth District and on his work to secure $925,000 in federal funding for the new health unit in the FY2022 Omnibus Appropriations bill enacted in March 2022.

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) joined Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Congressmen Dutch Ruppersberger (MD-02), John Sarbanes (MD-03), Kweisi Mfume (MD-07), Anthony G. Brown (MD-04), Jamie Raskin (MD-08), and David Trone (MD-06) in announcing $737,527 to support natural resource stewardship efforts and conserve imperiled wildlife and their habitats. This U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service federal funding through the State Wildlife Grant (SWG) Program will be distributed to state wildlife agencies to address conservation needs and protect at-risk fish, wildlife, and their habitats.

Brown (MD-04), and Andy Harris (MD-01) on Tuesday to meet with White House Senior Advisor and Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landrieu to discuss how the Bipartisan Infrastructure law, passed by Congress, can advance Maryland priorities and projects. In coordination with the Biden-Harris Administration, the lawmakers already have delivered hundreds of millions of dollars to Maryland for bridges, transit, water infrastructure, broadband, and more.
